CAP League- 2011 : 2nd Round

Transformers, Here is the schedule for the 2nd round of CAP League. Our games are highlighted.

Hello Captains,

Congratulations for making to the second round of the CAP tournament 2011. Please find attached the schedule of games for second round. We are going to have 2 games per day (one in the morning and one in evening) and each game would be of 20 overs. We will have 5 overs of power play (3 mandatory and 2 batting powerplay). We will update the website to reflect the format. An additional request to all the team captains to ensure that the score sheets are completed properly for your team. We have got numerous requests later on asking for updating the website on top 20 etc... we are trying hard to do as best as we can, but if your team uses nicknames, or uses illegible handwriting or if the scoresheet is plain not complete, we can not blame our website managers. Do not sign the scoresheet, unless you have made sure that the scoresheet reflects the actual figures for your team bowlers, batsmen etc.  Please together we can make it much better and efficient experience.
There will be semi-finals and finals following the second round games.

Good luck
CAP Management.

Incredible Hulk(Sastry) took Transformers to Playoffs

Great Win! Transformers are now officially in to playoffs (Knock out stage), after winning 4 consecutive games with Chak De, Peoria Super Kings (PSK), Peoria Knight Riders (PKR) and DC Dynamites(DCD).

Game with DC Dynamites Analysis:

This is one of the toughest fights that Transformers have seen from the opposite team till now. Starting from holding wickets in hand at the early stage of the innings, taking singles in first few overs, making bowlers to think constantly, and keeping the fielders on their toes, whatsoever a tough fight given by DC dynamites to keep the scoreboard ticking till the end overs. But still Transformers have shown great consistency in bowling and fielding and succeeded to restrict them for 71 in 16 overs. Great bowling performance from the captain Sastry (4 overs, 4 wickets and just conceding 8 runs) - one of the best spells in the series and still more to come. And also our “wicket taker” Vinay, backed up Sastry with 2 wickets and giving 19 runs from his 4 overs. Bhargava, Peddi did their job with their tight spells. Susheel chipped in with an useful over.

Coming to overall bowling analysis, even though Transformers bowled well, there is still a lot more room for improvement, they conceded a lot of extras 9(8 wides and 1 lb). In crucial games these will play a HUGE role in deciding the game. They need to come up with a better plan next time, while facing the toughest opponents for the next two games (BNCC, Titans, remember it’s an all Bloomington Finals in CAP-2010). They had experience playing Titans last year (Transformers beat Titans in first round, but Titans moved to second round and placed themselves in finals), but BNCC is totally a new opponent, they have the hardest hitters of the hard tennis ball in their side, so they need to make their moves accordingly.

Batting analysis: 72 runs required in 16 overs, which is an easy score for a team like Transformers, which has depth in their batting line-up till the tail (Do you guys really see a tail???). Susheel and Ravi opened the innings, but got out cheaply leaving 7/2 in 3 overs. Both need to concentrate more in their shot selection. Susheel still owes a big performance. Ravi started well with PKR but got out cheaply yesterday with DCD by playing across the line; team is hoping a big knock from him too. Bhargava and Sastry steadied the innings and kept the scoreboard moving. Sastry once again took the responsibility on his shoulders and showed everyone on what he is capable off. Bhargava looked lucky at early stage (missed out on a stumping chance and a caught behind), but gave the much needed support to Sastry to steady the innings before finally getting runout on 11 leaving the scoreboard at 41/3, and still needing 30 runs from 9 overs. Hemanth replaced him and got out cheaply. He is one of the dependable batsmen that Transformers rely on, and the team is hoping a good knock from him in the coming games. Lokesh gave good support to Sastry by taking singles until later got out for 26, to an unconvincing LBW decision by umpire, in the 12th over when Transformers still needed 9 runs from 4 overs. Here came the “hard hitting” Ramesh, who finished the innings with a straight SIX over the bowlers head and the winning shot over the long off for a single.

It’s a good convincing win, even though Transformers looked little out of ideas at the early stage of the bowling, controlling the easy singles, extra runs and breaking partnerships. They had lost too many wickets, while batting, for a low scoring game. Now they have to focus more & show improvements in the following

1. Bowling:
a. Needed consistent bowling performance and better ideas to break the partnerships,
b. Controlling easy runs from extras
2. Batting:
a. Building partnerships in batting, and more focus needed in shot selection.
b. Taking singles at the early stage of the innings.
c. No easy runouts.
3. Fielding:
a. Stopping the easy singles.

As they are facing the two toughest teams of the tournament, they need to come up with a great game plan to outplay those teams. May be on paper BNCC or Titans looks more commanding than Transformers, but as a team and commitment, Transformers will definitely has a greater chance to outplay them.

Great Start to the Season -Lets keep it rolling !

Well Summer has almost sinked amongst us and that can only mean a few things to a cricket player. Competition is absolutely paramount and we as a team will lend our support to ensure that remains the top priority as the tournament unfolds.

As a team, I would say we started well this season. We have downed three teams with an Ebullient show!! Great Job Guys!! I believe we have the heart and the character to beat any team in the league, its a matter of giving ourselves a fair chance to win whenever we step into the field.

It was great to see Manchi, Bhargav, Hemi and Susheel amongst runs(Our captain is being humble here, so far he is our best batsmen). I hope everyone will chip in with valuable contributions whenever they get the opportunity, am sure we will be a force to be reckoned with in the tournament. It was also great to see Vinay make his presence felt on our team as a hard noised, team player who will do whatever it takes to win. It will be nice to watch this guy in the coming matches.

Moving on to future matches...

There is no room for complacency as we have two big character games coming up with two top teams. It is very essential that we treat every team with respect and play our natural game. I have no doubt every player on the team wants to make it further in the league. We just have to be better. Buckle Up guys!!

Enjoy the beautiful weather!!

Once again, we would like to mention, CAP management assumes that each participating team will take part in the tournament with sportsman spirit and not try to take undue advantage of limitations on rules (especially rain washed out games). We all love our cricket and want to enjoy as much as possible of it. We also hope everyone likes our new pitch and although we are not perfect yet, everyone appreciate that we are constantly working in
improving our facility. We realize that there are requests on providing extra shade for the team (we tried it last year, but the strong winds broke our shade) , and we will work on it, but we can't promise anything right now.

Please keep sending your questions, concerns and good suggestions and good luck for the tournament.

Cricket Season - 2011

Contributor : Hemanth

Spring is here already and its time for us to kickoff the discussion about cricket for the season as summer is approaching. We had a great season last year lifting another Cup and had loads of fun and parties under the leadership of Praveen (Urf Papi). But we have lost a few key players this year Sandeep (Yuvraj of Transformers) and Bharath (Our run machine and consistent opener), at the same time gained new players like Anil Peddi.

So Its time to appoint the captain and have him organize a few get togethers and practice sessions to get along each other and have some fun. As some of you know that praveen wants to get down from his captaincy this year as he wants to give the opportunity to someone fresh in the team. Make sure that he is not axed as the captain, in fact he is generous enough to offer a new guy the opportunity to see how things shape up. He is extending his support to the new captain by taking the vice captain role for this team this year in case the captain needs some suggestions and help.

Having said all the above about the ex-captain (:P), I hereby name the new captain for the team Transformers (Come'on King Maker you can do it ).

He is none other than Sastry Kompella.

Congratulations Dude.

I hope everybody in the team likes this decision and I am sure most of us wanted to see him as the captain for a long time.

!!!!Go TRANSFORMERS !!!!
