I smelled petrichor last week, when I got hit by snowballs after work,a teasing prelude to the real winter ahead. There is a little side in me that hold a little prejudice as far as snow is concerned, as it makes me nostalgic and reminds me of Alaska. As my thoughts wandered, I started contemplating the past. I couldn'think more of anything else other than cricket for retrospection may be its because I am writing a cricket blog or its not an introspection. If we account for standards, we were not on par with the usual standards that we set to ourselves. We won the CITA trophy and the joy was ephemeral as our desultory performances couldn't fetch a place in the finals of the next two tournaments. Though I was to be blamed to a certain amount for, I always believed the team had enough resources to make it big. Unfortunately, though we won 3 matches and lost just one, that one costed us dearly.
Sandeep: Clearly he was the stand out performer for the team this season. He blessed us with his batting prowess all season, and bludgeoned oppositions at will. His bowling was useful and at times shady. Sandeep, let this form of yours continue. Amen!!!
Papi: Though it may sound a little diaphanous, Papi is eponymous to transformers. He transformed the team in a cooly unconcerned way of his own. He made us believe in ourselves and led the team wonderfully. His bowling during the first tournament was as lethal as it can be, but as the season progressed, it got a stinge of yellow to it as was the team's performance. Overall, Papi made his presence felt strongly with his un-debatable decisions.
Ramesh: He is the sole reason we won at least one tournament this season. For Ramesh, it’s an epiphany of sorts. He reinvented himself as a batsman. Hope he continues next season too.
Hemi: At times, he looked unstoppable and at times he looked a mere mortal. If he is consistent, I am sure team’s chances are almost a certainty.
Brahmaji: He had another great season with gloves. Clearly the best keeper in the CITA tournament and he has contributed well with the bat too. Hope he continues to serve the side next season.
Sunil Rajulapati: Man, he can bowl!! Whenever you throw the ball at him, there is certitude of strange happenings. Hope he gets more chances with the bat as well and I tip him for captaincy next season LOL!!
Manchi: His exploits as a volleyball player are worth a mention than his cricketing skills this season. He is a wonderfully gifted player but limited chances hurt his form. Dil mange more Manchi!!
Vamsi: He has contributed well with the bat but only at times. Inconsistency creeped in as the season unfolded. Being opening batsmen, we expect more from you man!!
Susheel: We missed him for the second tournament but his contributions in the first one are worth a mention.
Nagesh: Limited chances have hurt his career always. I hope next season he gets to act as a deputy for Sunil and gets to bat up the order.
Bhargava: I am no Shakespeare to invent new words and I cannot use no more than “Inconsistency” as far as Bhargava is concerned. I hope he gets his form back next season. “That’s what I am talking about Yo”!!
Arvind: He made good uses of the chances he got and created an impact. Hope he gets more chances as a bowler next season.
Sastry: Created the split in the team and allowed the advantage to slip. Hope he stays next season!!
I hope we regain glory next season with commendable performances and grow more as a professional unit. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!!

What The Greats think about our "LITTLE MASTER"
With his 6th double hundred followed by a 50 in the second innings, He "The Genius" showed once again what he can do with his lucky bat, and the Aussies had to bow down to him once again. Wanted to celebrate this win with sharing on what the greats are saying about our "Little Champ".
Do share your thoughts !!
Courtesy: Cricinfo
I saw him playing on television and was struck by his technique, so I asked my wife to come look at him. Now I never saw myself play, but I feel that this player is playing much the same as I used to play, and she looked at him on Television and said yes, there is a similarity between the two...hi compactness, technique, stroke production... it all seemed to gel! in reference to Sachin Tendulkar.
- Sir Don Bradman
India's fortune will depend on how many runs the little champion scores. There is no doubt Tendulkar is the real thing.

He has defined cricket in his fabulous, impeccable manner. He is to batting what Shane Warne is to bowling.

Technically, you can't fault Sachin. Seam or spin, fast or slow nothing is a problem.
- Geoffrey Boycott
- Geoffrey Boycott
He is a perfectly balanced batsman and knows perfectly well when to attack and when to play defensive cricket. He has developed the ability to treat bowlers all over the world with contempt and can destroy any attack with utmost ease.
- Greg Chappell

I'll be going to bed having nightmares of Sachin just running down the wicket and belting me back over the head for six. He was unstoppable. I don't think anyone, apart from Don Bradman, is in the same class as Sachin Tendulkar. He is just an amazing player.
- Shane Warne
- Shane Warne
I think he is marvellous. I think he will fit in whatever category of Cricket that has been played or will be played, from the first ball that has ever been bowled to the last ball thats going to be. He can play in any era and at any level. I would say hes 99.5% perfect.

- Viv Richards on Sachin Tendulkar
Today, he showed the world why he is considered the best batsman around. Some of the shots he played were simply amazing. Earlier, opposing teams used to feel that Sachin's dismissal meant they could win the game. Today, I feel that the Indian players, too, feel this way.

Beneath the helmet, under that unruly curly hair, inside the cranium, there is something we don't know, something beyond scientific measure. Something that allows him to soar, to roam a territory of sport that, forget us, even those who are gifted enough to play alongside him cannot even fathom. When he goes out to bat, people switch on their television sets and switch off their lives.

I Was fielding in the covers Tendulkar came out to bat in his debut Test at Karachi. I still remember Waqar Younis was at his peak form at that time. Tendulkar tried to drive Waqar through the covers off his very first ball in Test cricket but was beaten all ends up. But I walked to captain Imran Khan and told him 'this kid looks very good' and Imran agree with me.

I have watched a lot of Tendulkar and we have spoken to each other a lot. He has it in him to be among the very best.

Don't bowl him bad balls, he hits the good ones for fours.

If I've to bowl to Sachin, I'll bowl with my helmet on. He hits the ball so hard.

I still think Tendulkar is the best batsmen in the world ahead of Steve Waugh and Lara.

What we (Zimbabwe) need is 10 Tendulkars.
- Paul Strang

He is Sachin Tendulkar. I hope he stays Sachin Tendulkar. We need a new player, a player in his own way. He has a technique which is the hallmark of a great player. Everything indicates that he will be a great player and I am sure he will prove me right. Reminds me of Barry Richards.

Sometime back I had written a piece that said that Sachin's the master and Lara a genius with his head high up somewhere. That's it!

Sachin is an attacker. He has much more power than Sunny. He wants to be the one to set the pace. He has to be on top. That's the buzz about him.

Tendulkar is the most complete batsman I have stood behind. I saw the hundred in Perth on a bouncy pitch with Hughes, McDermott and Whitney gunning for him he only had 60-odd when No 11 came in. I've seen him against Warne too.
- Ian Healy

Sachin's the best. I've had this view since I saw him score that hundred in Sydney in 1992. He's the most composed batsman I've ever seen.

The pressure on me is nothing as compared to Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin, like God, must never fail. The crowd always expects him to succeed and it is too much pressure on him - Mark Waugh
Sachin is a genius. I'm a mere mortal.

His life seems to be a stillness in a frantic world... [When he goes out to bat], it is beyond chaos - it is a frantic appeal by a nation to one man. The people see him as a God...

It was one of the greatest innings I have ever seen. There is no shame being beaten by such a great player, Sachin is perhaps only next to the Don.

You might pitch a ball on the off stump and think you have bowled a good ball and he walks across and hits it for two behind midwicket. His bat looks so heavy but he just waves it around like it's a toothpick.

Dirty Little Secrets/Rumors - Part 2
The Recruiting Process:
After holding pow wows with the senior members in the team Papi has decided to test Sastry and Sunil in an innovative way.
Papi: All right, here is the deal. You guys are under scrutiny for 7 days.
Day-1: You guys need to bowl 2 overs each to Susheel and not make him play even a single shot on the off side.
Sunil: Quick to jump off his seat, “ Can bowl wides!!” hahahahahaha.
Papi: Sorry, all legitimate balls
Sastry: Legitimate in the sense ”Being in compliance with the law; lawful” and wide is strictly under the laws of the game.
Bhargava: Oh no!! Not again, get me an Oxford dictionary please
Hemanth: He means you shouldn’t bowl wides, no-balls etcetera.
Sunil: Ok, what if we don’t pass this test?
Nagesh: You guys are out of the team. I get to play yay!!
Bhargava: Papi, I have a suggestion let me bat instead of Susheel.
Sunil: Jealous aaa!! LOL
Hemanth: No, let me bat, I have some scores to settle with Sastry
Sastry: Oh yeah!! I am up for it
Vamsi: No, let me bat, I can hit through the off–side too. And I don’t get enough chances to play these days anyways.
Nagesh: What about me then?
Brahmaji: No, let me bat, I am the senior member in the team.
Arvind: No, let me bat, I got married first
Kiran, Uma: In unison, “let us bat, at least now”
Ramesh: No, let me bat, I can knock these guys out of the team
Bharath: Ramesh, can you? @#$%^&()*^
Sandeep: Papi, why don’t we change the rule and make it a little difficult for these guys. Let us make it onside instead of offside.
Papi: Hmmm…I am planning to have a drinks party and discuss this one, Manchi can you…?
Manchi: Sure thing. I am a bachelor now!!
Sunil: Awesome!! Lets discuss in the party. Are we going to CARBON after this?
Sastry: Sorry guys I can’t come.
Papi: Hmm…You Suck!!
Sastry: I know.

Here is our NEW Captain
Aight... fellow Tranformers, Thank you for participating in such an interesting poll(Thanks to all, who tried to pull him down!). We have a tremendous response (Even Bradley Brave's voted for this, YES they DID), With the flurry of votes, I literally had to close the poll. I know some of you couldn't vote online(and some with 3-4 votes and I considered all your votes, coz we are from a democratic country and RIGGING is absolutely fine), I have also considered your votes, which I got through emails). Having said that.. here is the WINNER by unanimous decision. I congratulate "PAPI" as he won the poll with 80% of the votes. The so called "NEW COMER" Sastry surprisingly stood second with the remaining 20% of the votes and I think MOST of you guys are good at Math, any guesses on what happened to the remaining % ??
So guys here are the results.....
By the way, This poll is all intended for fun, and one cannot question Papi's track record (Only one loss this season). He had led the team with his lethal bowling and with his heavy bat. Wanted to see how many are actively following the blog. Did you guys check Sastry's recent post??.
Interested in contributing to the blog??, let me know!!

Dirty little secrets / Rumors - Part 1
After a short stint with Jai ho, Sastry and Sunil are eager to come back to Transformers. They didn’t know that the status quo is "SNAFU". The entire team ganged up on them and now they have to pass a test to stage a comeback.
Papi: So you guys want to play for Transformers? If so, you need to take a week long endurance test and prove your fitness.
Hemanth: Also, we have our own doubts about your loyalty towards the team
Bhargav: Oh yeah!! That’s what I am Talking about!!! Oh Yeah!!
Sastry: WTF!!! I meant would it be possible for us to take the test on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday only as Sunil has a meeting on Monday and I fast on Tuesdays.
Sunil: It’s ironic that we have to prove our loyalty again. By the way, I can’t miss my Salsa classes too. Let me know the exact time I will try to show up.
Brahmaji: Papi, what is the test? We have to make sure these guys are not trying to fool us again
Nagi: Hmmm, I doubt if I will get a chance to play next season. Brahmaji are you retiring?
Bharath: Let us see how potty mouth they are? In telugu? Hahahahaha!!
Arvind: I don’t think these guys deserve another chance. Anyways, it’s up to you papi to decide their fate
Manchi: Guys, I have removed their names from the blog how can they be reinstated?
Sandeep: Well Said Arvind, let Papi decide
Kiran: Do we need to take the test also?
Uma: I am confused now. I thought we are Jai-ho. Damn!! You guys suck big time.
Vamsi: Don’t worry guys the test is simple. You just have to…….
Navin: Wait, no place for traitors.
Bhargav: Oh yeah!! That’s what I am Talking about!!! Oh Yeah!!
Ramesh: Well said Navin!!
Hemanth: Papi please decide, I cannot wait
Sunil: Alrite, I got to split for my swimming lessons, let us know papi
Sastry: Yeah let us know Papi, I am fasting today and can’t make it. Let us start tomorrow

Players Intro by our beloved "Sastry"
Intro's by Sastry Kompella: "A fellow Transformer"
Thanks for the lovely Introductions Sastry....
Update: Sastry's Intro by Hemanth added and more to come(That came from our ex captain and from a guy who has spent more time with Sastry)
When Ravi asked me to be a co-author on the blog I had the script already in my mind on what would I blog on. These are solely my personal views and if you have any questions/comments please direct them to me. Its a privilege to be among these talented individuals. I always enjoyed playing with all of you. Jai ho "Transformers".

Arvind Jujare
Right Handed Bat
Right Handed Bowl
Right Handed Bowl
Nick: Juju, Arvind, Pippen (lol)
A general perception in cricket about tall lanky guys is they can bowl really well and have a good arm and this conception is not at all wrong as far as Arvind is concerned. The first time I saw him was during the CAP league in 2008. I felt he was a little reserved then, but he proved me wrong with his antics. He can bat as well as bowl with ease and a very good out-fielder. He resembles Scottie Pippen (the yester year's chicago Bull's star). With the limited chances he had, he proved that he has the mettle to take the team transformers to the next level.

Bharath Chandrasekhar:

Right Handed Bowl
Nick: Andhrawala (he can swear in Telugu, real good!!)
Bharath is the most technically correct batsmen in Transformer's armory. With a rich pedigree and envious talent he has surprised many teams with his technical flair. Apart from his cricketing talent he has the innate knack of outwitting people with his telugu language skills. Though he is not single anymore he is the best bet for taking singles on the field. I personally feel he has still not performed to the peak of his abilities yet which is a hazardous sign to the opponents and Bharath you owe us one badly dude!!!

Bhargava Srikantha:
Right Handed Bat

Right Handed Bowl
Nick:Bigtime (That's what I am Talking about)
He is one of the very few players who groomed the team since its baby days. Bhargav is an all rounder equally capable with both bat and bowl. He is a strong on-side player but at times that causes his downfall too. He has led the team to victory in 2009 CITA trophy with a string of matching performances which earned him the Man of the Series Award. He was also named the best bowler for the 2010 tournament. With the age and talent on his side he could achieve more. Good luck Bhargav!!

Right Handed Bowl
Nick: Brahmi, 4hands(with the gloves), Radium with "k"
He is the Team's wicket keeper. I have known him since the inception of Dozers. His contributions to the team cannot be ignored. He is a tremendous asset as a wicket keeper/batsman and has lead the team to victory with 22 catches in the 2010 CITA Tournament and was the best wicket keeper for both 2009 and 2010 Tournament. He can outwit people with his words and is a very good entertainer. Though there is a slight competition from Nagesh, 4hands remains the best wicket keeper in the side. Keep it going Brahmaji!!

Hemanth is the ex-captain of transformers.
Hemanth is the ex-captain of transformers.
He captained the side for the 2009 CITA tournament and has lead the team beautifully. I can only think of two words about Hemi, "Calm and Collected". He is a hard hitter of the ball and bowls teasing leg cutters. Though he gave up captaincy to Papi for the 2010 season, he still remains one of the best batsmen in the side. Be it volley ball, cricket, tennis he has an indomitable flair in every sport that he plays and he is a true asset to the side. Tippa, you Rock!!!!

Right Handed Bowl
Nick: Doosra ( I mean Wicket Keeper:)), Nagi
Nagesh is the second wicket keeper in the side. He can be a good replacement for Brahmaji if he can hone his skills. He is a decent player with the bat and is strong on the on-side. One good thing about doosra is he is never bogged down if he is not in the side and he never stops encouraging the team. Nagi, I know you have the talent to make it to the next level. Keep working, Good luck!!

Nick: Papi, Babai,
Papi as we all call him, is the current captain for Transformers. He has lead the team wonderfully in the 2010 Cricket tournament without losing a single game. Easily the fastest and the best bowler in the side and at times very useful with the bat, papi is a natural as far as captaincy goes. He has a deadly inswinger which has stunned many, many a time. I always want him to be an all-rounder as he has the skill to be one. keep working on your batting, I wish you good luck!! At times, he can be a PIA(Sorry I didn't mean Peoria International Airport, Pain in the A**!!) but always is accomodating and inviting. Great Going Papi...

Ramesh came into limelight with his match winning performance against Bradley Victors in the semifinals of CITA 2010 cricket tournament. With his strong wrists and forearms, he looks like a boxer who got into the ring and ready to knockout. He is a strong hitter and a useful left arm bowler. He has worked on his defensive batting and is more tempering now at the crease. Boxer Bhai, we want more sixes from you!! Good luck!!

He made his debut for transformers in 2010 CITA tournament.Ravi is very talented with the limited chances he had, he has showed everyone what he is capable of. Ravi is a pro-active guy and puts the team interests above his. Ravi, the team wants more from you, I am sure you will never let us down. All the best!! God bless you thalli...

Sandeep reminds me of Matthew Hayden albeit a right hander, with high priced arms he can whack the ball to the distance. He is one of those all rounders who can contribute either with the ball or the bat and make himself counted. On a given day, he can surprise you with his sneaky swingers or whacky sixes. His talent was unveiled during 2010 season where he is one of the prolific scorers in the side. Sandeep I wish you the very best and would like to watch you clobber the opponents. Good luck!

Nick: Mastaru, Sastry, 6-9 sastry, Bakka shalthi
(Intro by Hemanth Tippareddygari)
Sastry is the most talented cricketer with excellent batting and bowling skills. He started his cricket career with transformers (Dozers back then) in 2007 when the team was in real need of a good bowler and exceeded the expectations by winning the Best Bowler Award in 2009. Also with his impressive batting performance he soon became the heart and soul of the Transformers team. Apart from cricket he has excellent communication skills who can impress anyone within no time. His energy level keeps the group of people around him lively and entertaining all the time. He is the best buddy to hang around although he himself is strictly non-alcoholic. The level of his interest in all kinds of sports like volleyball, Ping Pong, Badminton make him an allrounder. Although he moved out of Transfomers in 2010 to help a new team he could not wait to come back to Transformers. Lets Rock and Roll together and have some fun in future as we always do

Nick:Susheel, Sonu
He is the "Sourav Ganguly" of Transformers. No I didn't mean he is a southpaw, all I meant was he is a wonderful player on the off-side. Though he favors off-side he is equally fluent on on-side. Susheel is a tricky bowler and has wonderful variations and can get into opponents skin to get them out. He is a terrific competitor and a tremendous asset to the side. I wish he would continue to play for transformers even though he is a family guy now. Congrats and good luck Susheel!!

Vamsi Chennamsetty: Right Handed Bat Right Handed Bowl Nick: Vamsi, God Father
Vamsi is the abettor of susheel. Most of the times he opens the batting and is the consolidator for the side. I think he is the sort of guy transformers were looking for after their losses in 2008 season. He is a natural strategist and a terrific fielder. Vamsi is always willing to take charge and is not afraid of launching scathing attacks on the opponents verbally. If one were to ask me to describe Vamsi in one word its "Enthusiasm". Good luck Vamsi!!

Game 3: Transformers vs Jaguars
This is by far one of the toughest pools in the league with Titans leading the pool without a loss, Peoria XI and Transformers followed with a single loss. In order for Transformers to have any ray of hope for Super 6's this is a must win situation and if possible win by a HUGE margin(In case when run rate comes into play).
Jaguars won the toss and chose to field. With both the openers out of the game(Susheel(getting married and is India), Vamshi(Injured Knee)). Captain Papi opened the innings with Bharat to take advantage of the power play and the strategy didn't last long as Papi gave a simple catch to the fielder at long on. Soon followed by Bhargava. With 5 runs on board and 2 wickets down, It was all about steadying the innings. Hemanth and Bharat had a huge responsibility on their shoulders, They played their shots and kept the scoreboard moving at a brisk pace. Bharat continued his form hitting three 4's over the covers in his well played 28. He along with Hemanth(24) and Ravi (16) kept the Transformers back on track. Transformers yet to see the best from Hemanth!!!. Then comes the Man of the Match Sandeep, Who kept his cool and played gem of an innings, Looking at the run rate after 10 overs, Transformers were eyeing at a score around 100, Sandeep who haven't got a chance to bat in this league, totally changed the mood of the game. The fielders at the boundary couldn't do anything except to watch the ball sailing every time he connects the ball, with five 6's and two 4's he quickly reached 52 and took the transformers to a much needed 132.
Having posted good score on the board, its time for the bowlers to restrict them and register a good win. Bharat bowled well and varied his pace and got the early wickets. Bhargava took a brilliant running catch to remove the Jaguars captain(May be one of the best catches in the tournament). Bhargav ajoined the party with quick wickets and at one point Jaguars were struggling at 50/5. Bunny came to the crease, didn't bother about the wickets tumbling and enjoyed his batting. He played his shots and kept the transformers on their toes, He hit seven 4's in his 40+ knock, eventually caught by Bharat on long off to a low full toss from Bhargava. Then its all about wrapping up the innings for Transformers. Bharat finished with 4/16, Bhargava 3/22, Papi 1/16, dismissed the Jaguars for 91 in 15 overs.
BOTTOM LINE: Useful contributions from Bharat, Hemanth, and solid powerful hitting from Sandeep, disciplined bowling and fielding from Transformers are the reasons behind this 40+ run victory.
Last but not the least, wanted to thank Sastry, Sunil and Shankar for staying till the end and supporting their HOME team.

!!!! Susheels Bachelor's Party !!!!
![]() |
| Susheel during the CITA-2009 league |
As most of you know Susheel is losing his bachelor hood next month and we, the Transformers and rest of Peoria are planning for a bachelors party coming weekend !! ... Captain Papi has volunteered and we can all meet up at his place and he promised that the party wont be at his place.
Game 2: Transformers vs Warriors
GAME 2: Transformers vs Warriors : Winner : Transformers
With a loss in the first game against Peoria XI, This was a must win game for the transformers. Warriors won the toss and elected to bat on HOT and HUMID day.. In the very first over of the match, Navin twisted his ankle and was taken outside the field(Later we came to know that he fractured his ankle..Get well soon Navin!!). Excellent spells from Papi and Bhargav restricted the Warriors to 87, Bhargav finishing with 5 wickets.
In the chase, Susheel and Bharat opened the innings(As our regular opener, Vamshi is out of this game due to a knee injury). Susheel was dismissed early and which brought Bhargav to the crease, Both Bhargav and Bharat steadied the innings and played their shots and kept the scoreboard ticking. Bharat played the finest innings of this season(With his wife watching his first game, He had to play well :-)). By the time Bhargav(34) was dismissed, Transformers were in comfortable position in their chase.. Bharat(30+) remained notout with Ravi(finishing the match with a six) and Hemanth chipping in few runs.
BOTTOM LINE: Fine line and length from the bowlers and sensible batting. With only top 2 teams qualifying the next round, the remaining games will be crucial.

Game 1: Transformers vs Peoria XI
Transformers Vs Peoria XI- Winner: Peoria XI
Transformers entered into CAP Leauge as CITA -2010 champions and with a whole bunch of confidence behind them. There are a few changes to the team. Sastry , The opening bowler and the guy who hit an amazing SIX off the last over(along with Ramesh, Man of the Match in the CITA Semifinals, who played innings of his life time and turned the odds) in a nail biting finish and a win over Bradley Victors in the CITA league semi-finals was traded and joined JAI HO along with Suneel Rajulapati.
Transformers batted first and scored 88 in 16 overs, Praveen Papireddy came into the crease when the transformers were struggling and scored a quick fire 34 to take the Transformers to a defendable score of 88. Peoria started off brilliantly and the runs kept flowing as Parag was demolishing the bowling attack as Saad played the supporter role and Peoria XI quickly crossed 50 by the end of 8 overs.
Transformers came back pretty good when Praveen and Sandeep were bowling exceptionally well and allowed only 20 off the next 5 overs. Match became exciting as they need just 4 of the last over. When the side needed just 1 run of 2 balls, Peoria XI captain kept his cool and steered his side to victory by stealing a single.
BOTTOM LINE: On the whole, Peoria XI played well and are well deserved for this victory. Not scoring enough runs of the first 10 overs and not posting a decent score on a RUN MACHINE pitch and the opposition quickly firing the barrel in the first 10 overs are the reasons for the FIRST loss to Transformers this season.
